I was born with a very unusual medical condition (neurogenic bladder) so I have always been very prone to bladder and kidney infections.

As a child and teenager I took many different antibiotics but I still got UTIs and was also often unwell due to the side effects of my medication. In my early 20’s I had a really big operation which made me feel unwell for a long time. After this I had to self catheterise and I took antibiotics every day but I still had approx. 2-3 kidney infections per year and lots of bladder pain, urgency and frequency. I kept thinking there must be something else that can help me and I tried supplements, cranberry juice and herbal remedies.

At the time I discovered homeopathy, I felt terrible, both physically and emotionally. I had lots of panic attacks, felt exhausted and stressed out and for some reason was unable to cry. I remember the homeopath asking me what I enjoyed doing and I found to my surprise that I couldn’t answer her. I didn’t know who I was. I was very unhappy where I was living and working, and I lacked energy and direction.

I had to be very careful what I ate or drank and how much sleep I got as if I got dehydrated or stressed I got ill. I was very limited in what I could do. It felt like I was walking down a very narrow path and could fall off if I put a foot wrong.

About a month after taking homeopathic remedies, I felt much stronger.  I had remembered who I was and what I liked again. I was more grounded and able to live more freely – like the path had got wider. My health began to improve, although it was slow progress as there is no cure for my original medical condition and I had to remain on antibiotics as a preventative measure.

I decided to study homeopathy as I found it fascinating to learn about disease and that symptoms are our body’s way of indicating something is wrong. I didn’t think it made sense to repeatedly remove or suppress a symptom when it’s trying to tell you something.

I like the fact that with homeopathy you get one remedy to cover ALL your symptoms rather than different medicines for different symptoms. I think this is better as giving lots of different medicines at once may cause them to interact or they may become additional toxic load to the body.

I also like that homeopathic remedies are non toxic. I am a complete lightweight and quite sensitive to a lot of prescription drugs so this is of particular benefit to me!

I was able to have two healthy daughters and I have used homeopathy to treat them for childhood illnesses, such as numerous teething problems (eg vomiting and sleeplessness), chicken pox, molluscum and asthma. I am very happy to say so far they have not had to take any courses of antibiotics!

In 2016 I discovered via Google search a sugar based supplement called d mannose which for me, has made a huge difference and enabled me to come of my antibiotics which I never thought I could do! In addition, now that I’m off my antibiotics I have found that if I get symptoms of bladder or kidney infection, (such as pain, frequency, urgency), I am now able to manage these using homeopathic remedies rather than resorting to using antibiotics as I would have done in the past.  (1 see below)

I’m still learning how to manage my health on a daily basis. I believe that the years of UTIs and taking antibiotics have made an impact on my gut health and general health so I’m recovering slowly.

I have taken homeopathic remedies myself when I had the conditions listed below and found them extremely beneficial:-

Acute cystitis, kidney infections, Headaches, annual Winter viruses, anxiety and stress, healing after my C sections or other minor ops, dental work, tooth extraction and dry socket,  appetite cravings, coughs, constipation,  hayfever, aches, pains and fatigue, menstrual irregularity, candida (thrush symptoms), chills, fever, ear ache (symptoms caused by getting dehydrated and cold.)

I would love to be able to apply what I’ve learned and help with any of your health concerns.
